"Businesses lose an estimated 10% of total revenue as a result of lost data"

Starling is... a filing cabinet on steroids
We went back in time to the age when there was no Internet yet, and we used our computer for simple and effective file management. Next we looked at what impact the Internet had on our filing habits and practices: Multiplying and ever-expanding file cabinets. Instead of approaching this data complexity through a centralized approach like cloud, we looked if there were different ways to reach our users’ goals: Data control and real time collaboration.
"Data silos hinder collaboration and can create a culture of mistrust, where teams are reluctant to share information, ultimately stifling innovation."
Deloitte
Starling is... data autonomy
We believe that freedom should be at the center of our working lives because value follow freedom: Freedom to create, freedom to express, freedom to try something. We believe that centralization leads to an exclusivity and captivity which is anti-productive, anti-creative and anti-freedom.
"The cumulative knowledge the software has of your data landscape delivers a much more intuitive and complete picture of your data"
Willem-Victor van Gerven, Founder Starling Intelligence
Starling... transformative tools for organizations
Organizations cannot afford loss of data, yet are not of the scale to benefit from the big, complex and bureaucratic data management solutions. They are too dynamic to fit in a strict data corset, while being particularly sensitive to cyber crime.
Design drivers & architecture
-
Neutral platform
Starling is a neutral platform that allows collaboration, no matter what file type, across different software ecosystems; including Microsoft, Linux, and Mac.
-
Offline Functionality
Starling works offline. Any synchronization needs are performed in the background automatically when back online.
-
Absolute Data Freedom
Ensure full data privacy: Files don't touch by design any Starling server. Any synchronization between collaborators happens directly through Starling's secure P2P protocol.
-
Personalized Data Model
Starling creates an internal model of your data, its relationships, and its history for easy querying, time-traveling and exploration. Changes made by collaborators are integrated back into your model for further enhancement and clarity.

-
Flexible Deployment Alternatives
Through Starling's decentralized approach no centralized architecture is required - no cloud needed; conversely Starling can be deployed as centralized system through simple adaptation.
-
Storage Economy
Starling's storage layer is designed to be economic and smart. It doesn't save what has already been saved before, while networking footprint is minimized through smart data parking.
-
Custom Data Views
Instead of storing and viewing data through the static hierarchy paradigm, Starling's free-form data association model enables dynamic and customizable viewing options.
-
Future Proof
Starling is designed to harness the evolving capabilities of AI and Machine Learning.
